Scrape up any solid matter (if any) with a knife, being careful not to push it further into the carpet. Blot up any liquid by placing a folded up towel over area and standing on it. Repeat this as many time as necessary.
Pour a little soda water (or water) on to part of the stain and blot it up, if that works, repeat on the rest of the stain. Repeat, blotting up liquid as necessary. Play a cooling fan onto the area to help speed up the drying and prevent staining.
